Drawing the Story of the Bible
An activity for God's children of all ages
(But especially for grade school children)
THE CONCEPT - PARENT"S PAGE
The Concept
The Bible is at its core a collection of selected stories to teach us about God's dealing with people on the earth. People were created to have relationship with their Creator and enjoy the world He created for them. But people rebelled against His love and ways and the world has been filled with violence pain and heartbreak since the early days of man's existence. God sent His Son, the Lord Jesus into the world of people to rescue them from disaster. People who have believed on Him as their Savior, have found the story of our redemption, presented in the pages of the Bible. Made up of different scenes, the Drama of Redemption moves from a prologue through three acts in which God tells mankind what is happening in His great plan for humanity.
Over the next months we will be drawing simple figures, basically circles and rectangles that will represent the major moves in the story of the people of God in the world of mankind. The symbols will be simple enough for children and adults to draw and will act as mnemonic devices (memory points) to help us remember the events that make up the story of the Bible. Each week we will be adding an element to the drawing and then read the Bible stories that go along with the drawing.
Using 4o objects (mostly circles, rectangles and other easy to draw shapes) we will draw the points of what God is doing in the stories of the Bible. The subject matter of the Bible is made up of what God is doing and what God is saying. For this activity, we will be drawing symbols of the events of what God is doing. Every time there is a major change in the story, we will add an object. We will include a diagram of each of the symbols along with the portion of the Bible it includes and provide the pages of a Bible story book which will cover stories from the particular section.
