In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
This verse starts the Bible. It tells us the God made the things we see around us on earth and the things we see when we look into the sky both day and night.
The Drawing
As seen above the symbol for The Creation is simply a circle. It looks like the earth when it is seen from space.
Have the child draw the circle and put the word CREATION under the circle. In the right hand corner put the number 1. Put the card in their flip book so they can review it with others in the future.
An Activity
Before God did this there was nothing. Have the children close their eyes tight and report what they see (nothing) and help them understand that that is what was around before God created. Ask them to name some of the things that God created.
An Application - (So what does that mean to me today?)
God made everything including all the animals. He made them all different. Fish swim in water but birds do not. A hummingbird's wings move very fast but an eagle glides on the air and for long periods of time does not move his wings. Horses run fast but snails move very slow. Things are different but God saw them as good. He made you to be you, not someone else. Some people are good at some things and some good at others. God made you special, so you do not have to be like anyone else, just be the you God made.
